The XP-72 was a redesigned experimental version of the P-47 Thunderbolt and developed to be a high-speed interceptor aircraft. First flown in February of 1944, the aircraft was never produced. Toward the end of World War II, there was a greater need for a long-range escort aircraft rather than an interceptor. The frame measures 6.5" X 8.5" and comes with a drywall screw for mounting on a wall and a dowel for displaying on a shelf or desk. Handmade in the US by a Vietnam veteran owned company, it is a unique item for all aviation enthusiasts to display.
